Confession and Thanksgiving

O God!

A walnut tree I became,

And tall I grew.

And from the top of the high wall

        I winked somany times

And danced so much

That finaly

       The passerbye,

    Whom I had always loved,

Came with a ladder

And took me -that is hid me

        in his packet-

        And took me away.

He opend me,

And my colour and fragrance

Tinged his tongue and his fingers.

O Good Almighty God!

I thank you,

For building so much high wall

                                  Around me,

O Great God,

Who turned mere water

Into pure wine ...
