Yalda and Night and Earthquake 30/9/1396
The fault that had slept since distant millennia,
how did it come to blink?
How did it come to stare
at your hands, sitting warm in my fingers?
How did it come to fix its eye on my eye
full of the dawn of your eye
full of your green gaze?
The fault that was a demon and was asleep,
how did it suddenly see that I have reached you
that all the distant centuries
I have run in longing for you
I have crossed
a thousand distances
abscess
a thousand darknesses
fault.
Has it opened its mouth again, again, this fault?
What do I care? Ha!
Tell this fault, tell the demon
that it is too late!
Tell it that I have reached you:
just like the last long night of the year
fallen on the white shoulder of morning
I have crossed beyond time.
Tell it!
Tell it!
that we have reached each other.
Tell it that we have breathed, above the valleys of every fault:
the dawn
and the kiss...

Maani
