A Basket
The cat licks its paw,
rubs its damp paw around its mouth,
hands and face washed,
it leaps onto the little table
beside my bed.
It circles the basket of red roses you
brought with you to my house.
One by one it sniffs the flowers,
it looks at me with its two big round eyes,
with a honey-colored gaze.
It comes onto the bed,
it sleeps on the soft pillow
beside my ear,
I hear the purr of its sweet sleep,
the scent of your flowers
I drink from its breath.
Outside the room the air is cold,
the place of exile is frozen
at the south pole of the moon.
In my hearth the firewood is blazing...

Woman
